The Panthers Sharing Community in San Leonardo project aims to build a facility shared by the American football association with schools, parishes and neighbourhood associations with a focus on the disabled and vulnerable social groups. Along the side edge of the facility bordering Via Europa, the architecture stretches along the side line, reaching out directly to the sports field and activity, acting as an acoustic and environmental mitigation diaphragm for the infrastructure and as a green backdrop for the large playing field. With the aim of creating useful spaces for everyone involved, the project is divided into three interconnected parts: the reception area, the social area and the sports area. The first features a multi-purpose meeting area, designed with external, independent access alongside the centre’s administration offices, the association’s headquarters and the infirmary and rehabilitation areas. The social area is located in the clubhouse proper, with a kitchen and a large room overlooking the field and with a sheltered outdoor area for social events. The roof overhang and the three-metre-deep paving that continue along the entire structure are designed to extend the social space as far as possible outdoors. Likewise, the continuous benches at the foot of the opaque cladding that alternates with the jasmine green walls provide a comfortable and sheltered position for spectators of the centre’s activities. The sports area is structured around the gym for non-dynamic fitness and rehabilitation activities. Two larger changing rooms have been designed with direct access both to the field and the gym for maximum flexibility. A third smaller changing room has been designed for smaller groups such as referees and women.
