Interiors for an ice-breaking yacht

disegno yacht

The interior design for the guest spaces of a 62-metre super yacht is a great opportunity to tackle the challenge of creating a spatial layout of rooms tailored to the needs of guests and oriented towards a view of the sea in a clearly restrained context that requires considerable design control. The small scale of the rooms imposes maximum precision in the details and an extensive search for finishes that lead to design choices aimed at expanding the space and enhancing the value of openings to the outside. Against an unbroken teak backdrop, a series of white planes follow each other, hiding the lights and connecting the interior spaces, creating a visual relationship with almost suspended intermediate vertical planes that informally subdivide the continuous space and direct the eye outwards. The living spaces are distributed over a series of decks. Alongside the tenders, the main deck houses the living areas with the living room, the dining room with a pantry – concealed by large sliding shelves – allowing the owner to serve guests in person, as well as the media room. Connected by a lobby with a lift, the Upper Deck on the top level houses the sleeping cabins. The owner’s and VIP cabins are towards the stern and the two medium and two mini cabins towards the bow. All are equipped with a study, private bathroom, changing room and facilities. The central distribution corridor terminates in the Observation Lounge, a vantage point from which one can view the scenery during the trip. At the other end, at the stern, the deck terminates with the Veranda for alfresco dining laid out alongside the heliport and below the glazed pool. The Bridge Deck on the upper level houses the sauna, gymnasium and a swimming pool with a transparent bottom, designed to overlook the lower deck. The Sun Deck is the final deck that accommodates an outdoor living room, kitchen with grill and spaces for entertaining
